About Me
I am a registered psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s degree in Behavioural Neuroscience. In addition to private practice, I also work as the Mental Health Director of a virtual substance use disorder treatment program, overseeing a team of therapists and coaches.
I formerly worked as the Senior Director of Operations for the federal mental health response and as the Associate Director of the counselling centre at the University of British Columbia. I have been a professor/adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, the University of Manitoba and the University of Nevada. I have been working in the addiction field for almost 20 years in Vancouver, Calgary, Las Vegas, Perth, and Winnipeg.
Experience aside, the most important component of therapy is how the therapist makes you feel. I have been told that I am non-judgemental, authentic, open-minded, and have a good sense of humour. My goal in therapy is to make you feel heard, understood and respected. Having been to therapy myself, I understand what it is like to be a client. It takes resilience and vulnerability to reach out for help.
